And I’ve finally gotten all my modules finalized after the add/drop exercise.
What a hectic week it’s been trying to figure out what to drop and what to add. Coupled with insane Conflict of Laws… Eugh. I’m still damn friggin and hopelessly lost.
And thus, for this semester, I’m taking…
- Principles of Conflict of Laws
- Foundations of Intellectual Property
- Admiralty Law & Practice
- Carriage of Goods by Sea
- Credit & Security
It’s a 4 day week for me! I’ve not read a single thing or even seen the reading list for Credit & Security yet. I hope IVLE gets updated by the weekend so at least I’ve got some cred-sec stuff that I can read over the weekend here in hall!
I would have loved to have taken a lit module like 19th Century lit or European lit but it’s okay. I’ll leave that for next semester I hope. Perhaps, FASS will finally offer American Literature – something I’ve been trying to get for ages lol.
And in trying to plan ahead, I have figured out in my head what I’m probably taking next semester.
It’s probably gonna be International Commercial Arbitration, International Commercial Litigation, International Regulation of Shipping, Marine Insurance and 1 or 2 mod’s space for either Chinese 1/German 1/Korean 1 or American Literature/19th Century Literature and probably a fun law module like Freedom of Speech: Critical & Comparative Perspectives.Law IV’s coming up ppl!i want nobody nobody but you . how can i be with another . i don’t want any other
C’est le jour final of Law IV camp!
It’s been great fun staying over in the btc audi with all these uber fun ppl seriously. All the mad rehearsals, the crazy trying to memorize notes, lyrics and the script that dynamically changes after a full run have been awesome amazing fun. And the breakfasts/lunches/ dinners/suppers together have been great. It’s just great to have the opportunity to mix with all my law buddies that I’ve not spoken to for so long e.g. the exchange ppl who were away for a year and those I’ve not really spoken to in school and to keep rehearsing scenes and songs over and over again and suffering together in the process. This is why I love the stage I think – the process of knowing the script and music and at the same time, getting to know all those involved in the production as well and becoming closer as a result. It’s just been great. I don’t know why I’m not doing more stage related stuff in school when I seriously think I should. Maybe I should keep this interest open in the future.
Anyway, Law IV is set to blow everyone’s minds away seriously
There’s seriously a whole chokeload full of talent involved in this production and everyone’s talents run the whole gamut of variety. Everyone in law school is seriously damn talented. Seriously seriously seriously. I love working with these people!
So do come down and support us this coming September!
18, 19th and 20th September at the Bukit Timah Campus. Awesome show coming your way!

shake it (off) like a polaroid picture
And so yesterday was an outing to Ubin with the law peeps from Law IV and it was amazing fun. I was thoroughly shagged with all the uphills but the downhills and the great company (you could hear us laughing like hyenas from the dark recesses of the humid forest) were of course nothing short of great.
I had great fun again hanging out with the!. Met K at Clementi at an early 8.30am then met up with the rest at BTC for breakfast and we drove down to Changi Village. Goodness. It seriously amazes me how far the end of the east of Singapore is from the West. Travelling from one end to another is seriously quite mad. Though Singapore can’t compare to other countries in terms of size and we have engineering marvels like the PIE, CTE and TPE, I think, we should allocate at most an hour and a half to travel from one point to another. Any more than that should not be allowed here. Anyway, under the sweltering heat of Singapore, you’d want to move quickly to your next destination so as to enjoy the fan or the breeze or the aircon asap. And cab rides should not be allowed to cost any more than $20. I did a route calculation on http://gothere.sg and if I had taken a cab from home to Changi, it would have cost a friggin $40 to get there in peak hour. Madness. Haha.
Anyway, after that, we had a late lunch at Changi Village Hawker Center|Food center and then proceeded back to school to shower up. Haha. I can’t believe we went to school twice in the same day. After showering, we were seriously super tired. So so tired. We went to the student’s lounge and just chilled. Haha. Never done that before on a non-schoolday before so it was quite interesting. Some of us dozed off while others played pool and others fooled around with J’s camera. And then, we went off for ice cream at Venezia at 6th Avenue. Hazelnut was good but the durian supreme was not very flavourful I thought. It tasted a tad bland. Though G said that the smell of the durians was pretty strong. Oops.
It’s great that all the exchange ppl are almost all back! I foresee year 4 to be full of random outings to random places after school or during breaks between classes. It looks to be an exciting, jam-packed year. We’ve missed you all!

we like to watch you laughing. pickin’ insects off plants. no time to think of consequences.
Today was definitely a good day.
Although lunch plans had to be shelved (hey no worries, I completely understand. we can have lunch real soon i hope. rest well!) and I had lunch which consisted of chicken rice at Adam Road alone, rehearsals after and everything else after that was great. Once again, this Raffli kept forgetting lines again and I didn’t really know why but i felt kinda really nervous for this particular run. I mean usually I am nervous because I’m afraid I’d mix up lines from different scenes. But this time was probably because we finally did the duet proper (fumbled again because I forgot the harmony’s tune and my lyrics eugh) and a few more friends from exchange came back and watched the run through. But it went okay I think. I must remind myself to not forget lines!!! Eugh.
Anyway, after rehearsals, some of the guys and gals decided to have dinner at Adam Rd. And so we did
And it was great just being amongst friends who’ve been away for so long. After we conquered 4 tables there and had our fill, we hopped onto cars and drove down to Orchard to have cakes at Bakerzin @ Paragon. Once again, it was just great being there with friends, chatting excitedly about everything and how no one wants school to actually start. Which it will in a month’s time. Eugh. Haha. And when that was not enough, everyone then adjourned to Wine Co @ Dempsey Road. And once again, it was just great chilling out with them under the starry skies (there really were quite a lot of stars) and the ulu-ness of the place really was amazing. I loved it. Although I didn’t drink anything other than plain water, the topics on the table were varied and interesting and this was a group of people (except for a few) that I don’t usually hang around with in law school. And it was great knowing more about them, especially since Law IV would be taking up at least 2 more months of our lives together.
Even the conversations and fun we had whilst travelling in the car from place to place was great.
We rocked the car. Literally. With MGMT’s “Kids” which everyone was getting damn high with.
And thus, as J mentioned as we all cheered our wine (and plain water) glasses, here’s to friends in law school (and to everywhere else as well) and to hanging out with people and friends you usually wouldn’t hang out with!

Dammit
I can’t seem to sleep. Dammit.
I think I fell asleep for like 15mins during the 1st episode of the Simpsons on Star World at 2am. Then I woke up because my mind started wandering and I remember vaguely that it wasn’t very pleasant. And I woke up as a result feeling uneasy and everything all over.
Today was an interesting day. In not a good way? In a good way? I can’t seem to decide.
Went running in the Botanics from law school till the Orchard gates of the Botanics on the other side. Went past the Symphony Lake and Swan Lake (haha I can’t remember what they are called but I think those are somewhere there). Strangely enough my right foot that’s been killing me past few days was perfectly fine during the run. But the moment I finished when I got back to law school, the painful ache came back again at the exact same spot it’s been at for the past few days. Dammit. I can’t even walk properly, even to the kitchen because it’s a throbbing kind of pain. I’ve got to angle my foot in a certain way and that makes it difficult to walk properly. I have to somewhat drag my right foot. And then there’s this tight chest pain – I only noticed it this afternoon and I’ve no friggin idea why it’s there or where it came from. And my neck’s been feeling really stiff too. I suspect it’s the pillows I’ve been using but dammit. I want all these things to go away.
And I still have not figured out until now how to act like a drunk man. Confrontational, loud, sad yet angry at the whole world. Eugh. I need youtube videos and movies to figure this one out. Look out for it… Another…. Dammit.
But learning and listening new songs that Shawn’s put up has been great – I love the random interjections I do in JQ’s song and I’ve finally heard my 1st song too – I hope the 2nd song can get slightly more tuneful though!
My mind’s been really a mess past few days too and though I know that graduation is still a year away, I’m already pretty psyched about what’s gonna happen after graduation. My grad trip. By what I’ve been told, there’s gonna be about 2-3 weeks after my final exams before pupillage starts. I’ve already mooted the point of Australia to my hall buddies who are pretty agreeable to the idea! Winter in Australia in June sounds perfect to counter a foreseeably worse heatwave. I’m leaving about 2 weeks to traipse around Australia. We’ve brought up Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Tasmania. Goodies! I wanna go back to Melbourne. Awesome place. And the Great Ocean Road. I just absolutely loved all the winding roads, the wonderful sights and sounds and smells and the awesome company of my army buddy. I’m pretty sure my hall buddies will be enthralled by the majesty of the Great Ocean Road too.
I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of the GOR. And after that I’ll travel for a short while till my pupillage starts around Europe hopefully. I think it will be amazingly refreshing to go travelling around Europe alone
Hope to make loads of friends travelling!
Anyway, as I mentioned earlier, indeed, my mind’s been wandering loads. And it doesn’t help that I miss someone and loads of friends terribly. Whenever something gets me really down, I think of happy thoughts. Simple as that. And usually that would entail a memory of a place that I’ve travelled to. I don’t travel much and I’ve not seen a lot but my goal before I turn 28 (some random arbitrary age I put that seems reasonable given that I would have worked for 3 years by then) is to to have travelled to every continent of the world to a few countries within that continent. For now, I wish I could be back in St Kilda’s or back in Montreal. St Kilda’s was where I sat by the beach basking in the sun and the sand and the sea and reading one of the most emotionally charged books I’d read in ages all alone. And it was amazing. And Montreal was the place I saw the most snow everywhere and where I made my first snow man and made a snow angel. I want to be back in those places. Soon.
